Explosivo is an alternative, interdiciplinary exhibition and art event series. We showcase themed group shows that function to initiate and create a dialogue between the artist and viewer (this type of communication has been proven to awaken even the most severe snooze sprains*.) Explosivo was born due to a frustration felt within a highly steralized art market, where artists are alienated from each other, their community is weak, and work sits stale on a wall. Through special events and performances within the dynamic exhibition, the viewer does not only look, he/she participates in the progress of history, thus having art become an experience, not just an encounter.

Within this interdiciplinary format, where fine art couples with film and video, music performance, + dance and theater, a new feeling within the viewer/participant emerges. The work is brought into a cultural context that directly confronts its audience.

Explosivo hopes to reach deep down inside you and tickle your intellect, not to mention your funny bone. We are always pushing our ideas of what excites us, what is stimulating, what makes the heart quicken and mind stir. We won't back down!
